Frequently Asked Questions

I received a Petit Juror Notice, what do I do next?
Petit Jury Notices are sent out approximately 45 days before your potential service date range is set to begin. This notice lets you know your name has been selected to be a potential juror during a certain time range. Your next step is to complete the Juror Qualification Form online or mail the form back to our office within 10 days of receiving. After completing your qualification form, if you are a qualified juror, your name will be included in a pool of potential jurors during the time range on your notice. You do not need to do anything further at this point. You will receive a separate summons in the mail if you are selected to be a potential juror. See the next FAQ for more information.

When will I have to report for Jury Service?
If you are selected to be a potential juror, a Petit Jury Summons will be mailed to your qualified address on file 2 weeks before the Jury Trial. This summons will tell you when and where to report for service. It is important to call the appropriate court (located at the top of your summons - ie: In the District Court of Cheyenne County or In the County Court of Cheyenne County) the day before the jury trial to ensure the jury trial is still proceeding.
District Court: (308) 254-2814
County Court: (308) 254-2929
